Our arsenal of top flight deals this week benefited tremendously from some overnight fare drops from United and Spirit Airlines. Fly.com’s fare experts uncovered a variety of international and domestic flights. Here are some of our favorites:
Flights to San Jose, Costa Rica
Costa Rica is one of our most-searched international destinations for a reason. The country is filled with lush rainforests, national parks (popular ones include Manuel Antonio and Arenal Volcano) and great beaches (snorkeling and diving in reefs is a very popular activity). Last week, CNN profiled top natural hot spring jungle resorts in Costa Rica, offering great ideas for travelers looking for a relaxing vacation. All-Inclusive resorts are always an option as well, although we recommend venturing outside the resort to check out the rainforests and other top attractions.
As for the deals to Costa Rica themselves, the following fares offer savings of nearly $200 on the regular prices and are available into May:
- $323 — Atlanta to San Jose, Costa Rica (Roundtrip incl. tax)
- $323 — Washington, D.C. to San Jose, Costa Rica (Roundtrip incl. tax)
- Cheap flights to San Jose, Costa Rica are also available (all under $400!) from Boston, New York City and Chicago
Cheap Flights to Las Vegas
According to a study conducted by the city’s Convention and Visitors Authority, 38.9 million people visited Las Vegas in 2011. The study reveals that travelers spent more money in 2011 on shopping and dining and less on gambling than in 2010. Though the article does not mention airfare, our primary goal at Fly.com is for travelers to spend less on flights in 2012. To that end, here are some of the best flight deals to Las Vegas found this week:
- $52-$90 — Phoenix-Mesa to Las Vegas Nonstop (Roundtrip incl. tax) – Travelers can score huge savings by flying out of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway airport. Usually the best fare we see is $120 from Phoenix International. This is more than half off! Competition has driven this price down quite a bit.
- $92 — Oakland to Las Vegas Nonstop (Roundtrip incl. tax) – Under $100, enough said.
- $138-$148 — Denver to Las Vegas Nonstop (Roundtrip incl. tax) – Regular prices on this route are about $180, take advantage of an ongoing fare war between carriers before it’s too late.
- $259 — Boston to Las Vegas (Roundtrip incl. tax) – This fare is usually over $300!
- Other cheap flights to Las Vegas are also available. Browse our wide selection of Low Fare Calendars that show the best dates to travel from your city.
Other Domestic Flight Deals
These top flight deals do not fit into either of the above categories, but are just way too good not to mention:
- $98 — Los Angeles to San Francisco Nonstop (Roundtrip incl. tax) – Avoid the notorious California traffic and snatch up this fare that is usually $140.
- $108 — Chicago to NYC & Boston Nonstop (Roundtrip incl. tax) – Prices on these routes typically exceed $200, so these make for a great excuse to visit NYC or Boston before the summer crowds arrive.
- $108 — Dallas to Boston Nonstop (Roundtrip incl. tax) – This is easily over 50% off the usual cost of this route.
Note: Just a reminder, all of the above deals are usually available in the opposite direction, so be sure to search.

It is a highly informative article. The illustrations make it much more simple to understand. The explanation given is pretty clear. After reading this article I am sure I will be using flights to San Jose to see how it works.

Good question, @twitter-498293561:disqus . It’s extremely rare to find fares like that. We found it while researching deals to include on our @fly_com:twitter twitter deal feed. Usually fares like that are mistakes by the airlines, so it is important to book them ASAP. Airlines tend to catch their mistake after an hour or two, which is why we always urge our users not to wait when they find a great fare.
It definitely seems too good to be true, but I attached my itinerary as proof. I actually just returned from Brussels. That one cost $232 roundtrip including taxes.
