United Airlines is a major airline based in the United States. A recent stock-swap deal has seen ownership of the airline shift to United Continental Holdings, Inc- the result of a merger with Continental Airlines. Headquartered in Chicago Illinois, United Airlines has grown into one of the largest airlines in the world serving over 170 countries.
Operating from major hubs in Chicago, Washington, Denver, San Francisco and Los Angeles, United Airlines provides scheduled transcontinental, transatlantic and transpacific routes. The airline is one of the founding members of the Star Alliance and can offer connections to over 1,000 destinations throughout the globe. Narita, Tokyo is United Airline’s focus city. This provides a route to Japan and together with in-flight features including laptop power ports and fully reclining seats in Business Class; upgraded travellers see it as a first choice.
Check-In
For travel within the United States passengers must arrive one hour before the United Airlines flight. International passengers are advised to check in two hours before departure. The gate closes 20 minutes prior to take-off.
Baggage
United Airlines permit one 23kg bag for Economy and two for Premier card holders. Business and First Class passengers can check in up to 32kg across two bags. All passengers can carry one item of hand luggage and one personal item including a purse or laptop.
Seating
The seat pitch for Economy is 31-32 inches. Business passengers can enjoy up to 54 inches or upgrade to a flat recliner. First Class provides 6ft fully flat beds.

Additional Information
United Airlines has an interesting record breaking past. In 1988 United Airlines flew a charity flight around-the-world to collect funds for the Friendship Foundation. Making only two stops on the journey, it was recorded as the fastest flight around the globe- raising the profile of the airline as well as the charity.
