Air New Zealand Limited is the national airline and flag carrier of New Zealand. Based in Auckland, the airline’s main hub is Auckland airport, located near Mangere in the south of Auckland. Air New Zealand’s headquarters are in Western Reclamation in central Auckland City. In 1940, New Zealand’s Tasman Empire Airways Limited, (TEAL), was established. In 1965, TEAL became Air New Zealand Limited and in 1978, it was the first local airline to cater for international and domestic flights when it merged with NAC. Since 1989, the airline had been largely privatised, but became government-owned in 2001.
Today cheap flights from Air New Zealand operate to 27 domestic and 26 international destinations in 14 countries across Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. It is the only airline to circumnavigate the world. The Air New Zealand fleet totals 99 and is made up of Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier turbo-prop aircraft.
Check-In
Check-in is no later than 90 minutes before departure, but for flights to or from the USA, it’s no later than two hours. Check-in desks normally close 40 minutes prior to departure.
Baggage
For international flights with Air New Zealand, Economy Class passengers are permitted to take on board one piece of cabin baggage of up to 7kg, with dimensions of no more than 56 x36 x23cm. Checked in baggage is limited to one piece of up to 23kg.
Seating
Depending on which aircraft passengers fly on, the latest Air New Zealand information reveals that flights offer a seat pitch of between 30 and 34 inches.
Frequent Flyer Programme
Airpoints Dollars is Air New Zealand’s frequent flyer currency. Passengers can earn and redeem Airpoints rewards. Membership is complimentary for UK residents and Business Class passengers.
Additional Information
Economy passengers will be able to book seats that recline into an almost-flat bed. These seats, situated in the first 11 rows of the Economy cabin, will be equipped with a footrest that can be lifted into a ‘recline’ position, forming a flat surface on which two adults can sleep.
