Bulgaria Air is the flag carrier airline of Bulgaria. Headquartered at Sofia airport, the airline is owned and operated by Himimport Inc. Established in 2002 from the insolvent Balkan Bulgarian Airlines; Bulgaria Air operates a network across Africa, Asia and Europe. Once formed, the airline was given a new logo which was voted on by the public.

Bulgaria Air flies to 28 major destinations. Popular routes include Libya, Cyprus, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. Flights to Bulgaria from London Heathrow and London Gatwick are available to UK passengers.

Bulgaria Air also runs subsidiary Hemus Air and together with charter and business flights serve over 100 locations in 16 countries. Add to this the airline’s partners and Bulgaria Air provides a total network of over 400 cities in the world.

Check-In
Bulgaria Air advises all passengers to allow plenty of time to check in. The desk opens two hours before the flight and closes 45 minutes before the scheduled departure. Passengers should arrive at the boarding gate 30 minutes before take-off.

Baggage
The standard allowance for checked baggage is 20kg for Economy passengers. Business Class can check in up to 30kg, but check Bulgaria Air information in advance for excess baggage fees. One item of cabin baggage is permitted up to 10kg in weight.
