Germanwings is a low-cost airline serving 67 destinations throughout Europe. Established in 1997 as Eurowings Flug GmbH it aims to provide no frills flights to popular holiday destinations. Located in Cologne, Germany and owned by Lufthansa the airline has a secondary base at Stuttgart airport. Germanwings operates from other bases including Hannover-Langenhagen airport, Berlin-Schönefeld International airport, Hamburg Airport and Dortmund airport.
Direct flights operate from Edinburgh, London Stansted and Manchester airports in the United Kingdom. Cheap flights from Germanwings are available to destinations including; Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Italy, Greece, Austria, Croatia and France.

Check-In
Germanwings check-in desks close 30 minutes before scheduled departure. Passengers are advised to check in 90 minutes before the flight leaves. Domestic locations including Cologne/Bonn, Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart offer a web check-in service.
Baggage
Germanwings passengers can check in up to 20kg of luggage, a basic surcharge is applicable for extra weight. Each passenger can take on board one item of hand luggage weighing up to 8kg and not exceeding 55 x 40 x 20cm in size.
Seating
Germanwings offer a seat pitch 30 inches with the option to purchase a seat of your choice. Reclining areas, prime positions and a seat pitch of 32 inches can be purchased in advance with your booking.

While most airlines have a strict code when it comes to tailfin and logo design Germanwings has taken another approach.
