Based in Luton, Monarch Airlines, which began operating in 1968, is a British scheduled airline and charter company. It is one of the largest charter airline companies flying passengers to a selection of leisure destinations in Europe, the USA, the Caribbean, India and Africa. Cheap flights from Monarch include Mediterranean destinations such as the Canary Islands, Cyprus and Turkey.
Headquartered at Luton airport, Monarch has three other operational bases at the airports of Manchester, London Gatwick and Birmingham. When the Group was founded in the 1960’s, it had a staff totalling 146 – today Monarch employs over 3,000 highly-trained personnel. Monarch’s impressive fleet of aircraft include Boeing 787 Dreamliners for long-haul flights and Airbus A321s for short-haul flights.
Monarch has now launched flights to Ibiza from Luton, Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester and has also taken delivery of a new Boeing 757.
Check-In
Monarch’s online check-in is available up to seven days before departure. Check-in desks at airports open two hours before departure and three hours for long-haul flights. Boarding time is 45 minutes prior to departure.
Baggage
Monarch information on baggage allowances permits a maximum of 20kg checked baggage. Each passenger is permitted one item of hand luggage weighing up to 10kg for scheduled flights and 5kg for charters.
Seating
Depending on the class of travel, passengers have a choice of seating pitch. Economy class is 28– 29 inches, while Premium Economy can enjoy 34 inches.
