Scandinavian Airlines or SAS, previously Scandinavian Airlines System, is the main air carrier of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. It is the largest airline in Scandinavia.
Copenhagen airport is one of the airline's three main European and intercontinental hubs, with Stockholm-Arlanda airport and Oslo airport, Gardermoen as secondary hubs. With its head office in Solna, Sweden, Scandinavian Airlines operates 143 aircraft, flying almost 30 million passengers to 90 destinations in 28 countries.
The airline was founded nearly 70 years ago, in 1946, and the first European and domestic flights started two years later. In 1951, the airline merged to become SAS and today it is the ninth-largest airline in Europe.
Passengers can book intercontinental flights to the United States, the Middle East and Asia. Cheap flights from Scandinavian Airlines depart from five major UK airports including London Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester or Aberdeen.
