Thai Airways is the national airline of Thailand. Founded in 1960, Thai Airways flights depart from their main hub at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport to over 70 destinations throughout the world. Thai Airways has won several awards for its quality of service including the Skytrax Passenger’s Choice Award for “Best Cabin Staff” in 2006 and the runner-up prize for “Airline of the year” in 2007.
The first Thai Airways flights to Europe began in 1972. Thai Airways flights from the UK depart from London Heathrow Terminal 3 and fly to the airline’s main hub in Bangkok. Cheap flights from Thai Airways operate with a fleet of 100 aircraft that includes both Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Thai Airways International was one of the founding members of the Star Alliance, along with Lufthansa, Air Canada, Scandinavian Airlines and United Airlines.
Check-In
Thai Airways online check-in is available from 24 hours, up to two hours before the flight. The airline advises passengers to check in no later than one hour before departure.
Baggage
The hold baggage allowance for First Class passengers is 40kg, Silk Class 30kg and Economy 20kg. Each passenger is permitted to carry one piece of hand luggage that must not exceed the maximum dimensions of 115cm for the height + width + length and the weight limit of 7kg
Seating
The seat pitch on most Thai Airways flights is 32-34 inches in Economy, 42 inches in Premium Economy, between 38- 60 inches in Business (Silk) Class, and 60-78 inches in First Class.
Frequent Flyer Programme
The Thai Airways frequent flyer programme is called Royal Orchid Plus. It rewards passengers with air miles that can be used on Thai Airways flights or those of other Star Alliance members.
Additional Information
Thai Airways information has announced that the airline will be expanding its fleet with 14 new aircraft, of which six are the Airbus A340-500/600 range. Some Thai Airways flights will operate with the new Airbus A380, which is capable of accommodating an astonishing 555 passengers.
