June-August is the warmest period with average daily temperatures exceeding 30°C; cool breezes from the coast ensure pleasant conditions in the evenings. December and January can be very wet so travellers are advised to bring waterproof clothing. Spring is also a popular time of the year to visit Malta as many festivals take place, though prices for flights can be more expensive during this time.

Malta is served by Malta International Airport (MLA) located 5km (approximately 3 miles) from the capital city of Valletta. Direct flights are available from the UK.
