Double Elite Qualifying Miles Offer from American Airlines

Frequent flyers of American Airlines aiming for elite status can rejoice:  the airline is offering double “elite qualifying miles” through the end of the year.

Typically, bonus miles awarded by an airline do not count towards the miles needed to earn elite status.  However, with this offer, travelers who fly on American Airlines, American Eagle and American Connection between November 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 can earn two miles that count toward elite status for each mile flown.  Miles flown on airlines operated by American Airlines’ code-share partners do not qualify for the bonus.

Frequent flyers must register for the offer using promotion code AATHX by midnight Central Time on December 31.  If you travel on American and forget to register for this offer, it’s okay because American will retroactively bonus you the additional elite qualifying miles– as long as you register before midnight on the 31st.

Note:  AA is also offering double miles for travel on the airline from November 16-26, 2012.  More details of this offer can also be found on the page above.
