With the deregulation of airline fares came immense competition between airlines to woo customers. While most airlines reduced their fares, they also enhanced their services. Comforts that could previously only be imagined by a business-class customer are now available to economy class passengers in some airlines. Needless to say, these airlines are the most popular with customers.

Skytrax introduced the World Airline Awards in 1999 when it launched its first global survey of customer satisfaction. These awards have since been a mark of excellence for air carriers, popularly known as “The Oscars of the Aviation Industry”. Skytrax conducts yearlong surveys online and offline, and their results are summarized in an annual awards ceremony held at different locations around the world. Airlines’ representatives from around the world attend this ceremony every year, and 2019 was no different.
