The 137th US Open!

Location: Flushing Meadows, NY

Dates: August 29-September 11

The US Open is one of the biggest tennis tournaments in the world and the last of the Grand Slam majors (others being the Australia Open, French Open and Wimbledon).

Once a year tens of thousands of people from across the globe converge upon New York to experience one of tennis’ largest events. This is the 137th Open, and sure to be as entertaining as the 100+ championships before it.

This year’s total prize money will be a whopping $50.4 million, the largest ever recorded. It all starts with the tourney winner, who will pocket a cool $3,700,000 themselves.

Stars from the men’s field include Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and reigning champ Stan Wawrinka. All in all 99 men from 39 countries will be competing. On the women’s side six-time winner Serena Williams headlines the women’s field, playing against such notable entries as Jelena Ostapenko, current #1 Karolina Pliskova, and her own sister, Venus. 33 countries will be represented In what appears to be a stacked lineup.

Note: If Roger Federer wins the trophy this year, he’ll be tied for most US Open mens’ singles finals with Pete Sampras and ivan Lendl. Not a bad group to join at all!
