Established in 2006, Porter Airlines is a regional carrier with headquarters in Toronto. Its fleet consists of the Canadian-built Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft, flying to destinations in Canada and the US. The airline’s logo is the word ‘Porter’ written in a neat font against a navy-blue background.

Baggage and Other Policies:

Carry-on baggage allowance for Porter Airlines flights:

• Passengers on Standard, Flexible, and Freedom fares can carry one personal item and one standard carry-on bag, each not weighing more than 9 kg. The standard bag must not exceed 16 x 9 x 22 inches in dimensions
• Passengers on a Basic fare are allowed to carry one personal item (briefcase, camera bag, laptop bag, etc.) only, not weighing more than 9 kg or exceeding 17 x 6 x 13 inches in dimensions

Pet carriers count as one standard carry-on bag and can only be clubbed with one additional personal item.

Checked baggage allowance:

• Passengers on Basic, Standard, and Flexible fares are not allowed any free checked-in baggage and must pay for it
• Passengers on the Freedom fare are allowed to check-in two bags for free, each not weighing more than 23 kg or exceeding 62 inches in dimensions
• No single bag must weigh more than 32 kg

House cats and small dogs, not weighing more than 9 kg (including their carrier), can be transported in the cabin. Only one pet per passenger is allowed and cannot travel with an unaccompanied minor. The pet policy doesn’t apply to professionally-trained service animals.

For children between the ages of 8-17 traveling alone on non-stop flights, Porter offers an unaccompanied minor service. The service is optional for young travelers between the ages of 12-17 traveling alone. Porter Airlines booking for unaccompanied children must be made through the call center only and is not available online.

In-Flight Amenities

Passengers can choose from 3 seating options on all Porter flights -

• Classic Seat – Seat pitch of 32 inches
• Premium Seat – Closer to the front for a quick exit. Seat pitch of 32 inches
• Premium PLUS Seat – Extra legroom with drinks and snacks served first. Seat pitch of 34 inches

Complimentary snacks, beer, wine, and soft drinks are served on all Porter Airlines flights. However, it doesn’t have an in-flight entertainment system since it is a short-haul carrier.

Web Check-In:

Web check-in for Porter flights opens 24 hours prior to departure. Passengers need not print their boarding pass and can fly paperless with the pass sent to their mobile devices.
