SriLankan Airlines is Sri Lanka’s national carrier that started operations in 1979. The airline’s hub is at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo. It has an all-Airbus fleet of 26 aircraft that includes 13 A330 (long haul) and 13 A320/A321 (medium haul). This airline’s logo is a colorful peacock, perhaps a reference to the Dandumonara Yanthra (a flying machine) that features in Sri Lankan lore.

Hand baggage allowance -
A hand baggage piece must weigh no more than 7 kg and must be within 22 x 14 x 9 inches. Economy Class passengers are permitted one piece and SriLankan Airlines Business Class passengers are permitted two pieces of hand baggage. Additionally, passengers may also carry items such as a laptop, lady’s handbag, umbrella, small camera, etc. on all cabin classes.
Checked baggage allowance for flights to/from North, Central and South America -
Both Economy and Business Class passengers are allowed two free pieces, with the maximum permissible weight for Business Class being 32 kg and Economy Class, 23 kg. FlySmiLes and oneworld top tier members enjoy additional baggage allowance.
Checked baggage allowance for other flights -
Both Economy and Business Class passengers are allowed one free piece, with the maximum permissible weight for Business Class, 40 kg and Economy Class 30 kg.
Requesting the unaccompanied minor service must be done at the time of SriLankan Airlines booking. The airline looks after such minors, escorting them through immigration, baggage claim, and customs. The minor is also kept occupied with children’s in-flight entertainment and refreshments.
Only service dogs are permitted in the cabin on a SriLankan Airlines flight ticket. Other pets are transported in the cargo section or as checked baggage; they must be put in an IATA-compliant pet crate.
The web check-in facility is available from 48 hours up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure. SriLankan Airlines check-in counters close an hour prior to departure.
