Gothenburg is characterised by an Oceanic climate influenced by the Gulf Stream. Temperatures are quite mild throughout the year and can rise to 30°C in the summer. Hours of daylight are cut shorter in the winter months; December sees a maximum of six hours. From November- February the weather is cold and windy with average temperatures of 1°C and snowfall is common. July and August are considered the best time to visit for sunshine.

How To Get There

Gothenburg is served by two main airports; Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport (GOT) and Gothenburg City Airport (GSE). Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport is Sweden’s second largest international airport located 20km (approximately 12 miles) from the city. Direct flights with Scandinavian Airlines from London Heathrow operate daily. UK flights from Glasgow Prestwick and London Stansted to Gothenburg City Airport are also available. Passengers can reach the city by taking an airport shuttle bus; the journey from Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport takes around 30 minutes.

Visitors to Gothenburg can take a boat tour along the Gothia River to see the city’s harbour side sights such as the iconic Göta borg fort.
