Unwind on one of three Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands are located in the western area of the Caribbean Sea. Comprised of three separate islands; Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman offer an idyllic retreat for travellers. Each year tourists descend upon Seven Mile Beach of Grand Cayman and party in the clubs, dine in the restaurants and unwind on the sprawling coastline.  Try surfing off the coast of Little Cayman and marvel over marine life on a snorkelling expedition. Discover two historic shipwrecks in the waters of Cayman Brac and swim with stingrays on a sea tour. Visit historic attractions such Bodden Town’s Pedro St James Castle and Pirates Cave, said to be the location of buried treasure. Of course a trip to the Cayman Islands is only complete once you’ve toured the ironshore landscape known as Hell; this attraction is made up of craggy rock formations which resemble a depiction of the underworld and makes for a great photo opportunity.

      Why Go?
Take a trip to the Cayman Islands to get away from the bustle of everyday life. With a tropical climate, idyllic coves and a vast coastline, relaxing will come naturally. Enjoy sumptuous Caribbean seafood, stroll along the white sands and sip a cocktail at a beach bar.

      When to Go?
A brief rainy season in October is all that stands in the way of year-round sun in the Cayman Islands. A constant average temperature of 25°C makes this tropical destination popular with international tourists. July and August are the hottest months of the year but trade winds tend to keep the temperatures pleasant. Hurricanes have been known to occur on the Cayman Islands during October to December; although rare, visitors tend to avoid this period.

      How to get there?
Each of the three islands has its own airport. Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) is located outside Georgetown and serves Grand Cayman. British Airways runs a direct flight from London Heathrow; the journey takes just over 11 hours. American Airlines and US Airways operate direct flights to Miami and Boston. Gerrard Smith Airport (CYB) and Edward Bodden Airfield (LYB) provide domestic and inter-islands services.

      Must see
Be sure to spend an afternoon at the Cayman Turtle Farm where the friendly rangers show how to care for the island’s protected creatures; join a feeding and petting session and see the turtles in their natural environment. Explore more of the Cayman Islands and sign-up to the National Trust’s weekly guided tours of the Mastic Trail. Explore the forests in the centre of Grand Cayman and spot rare bird and plant life.
