      Cheap Flights to Frankfurt

Frankfurt – the world’s smallest metropolis

The smallest cosmopolitan hub in Germany and possibly Europe, Frankfurt is an intriguing city. Walk from one end of the city to the other in under 20 minutes and marvel over the change in architecture, street scenes and people as you pass by. Postmodern townhouses, original timber-framed buildings, skyscrapers overlooking the River Main and Wilheminian-style houses sit side by side. Visit one of several galleries and museums of the Museumsufer. Goethe House, birthplace of Frankfurt’s most famous poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, displays original papers and notes of his work in a replica study. Head to Römerberg and unwind with a drink in an ebbelwei pub; this was once the sight for markets, imperial elections and coronations. Tour St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral and its grand Gothic interior to see where ten monarchs were crowned emperor, climb the 324 steps of the cathedral spire for magnificent views out over Frankfurt.

      Why Go?
Frankfurt’s appeal lies in its status as the world’s smallest metropolis. A contemporary skyline, modern business district and strong economic position are second to the cultural sights and attractions of this remarkable city. Explore museums, theatres and cathedrals. Learn of Frankfurt’s careful preservation of its architecture and way of life.

      When To Go?

A continental climate means that Frankfurt has warm summers and cold frosty winters. Rain is infrequent but winds and strong breezes are constant. June-August and December tend to be the busiest times for tourism and as a result flights are more expensive.

      How To Get There?
Frankfurt is served by two city airports; Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Frankfurt Hahn Airport (HHN). Contrary to the title, Frankfurt Hahn Airport is located 120km (75 miles) from the city and it takes 2 hours to reach Frankfurt; it is popular with budget airlines. Passengers generally prefer the convenience of Frankfurt Airport with easy connections by bus and S-bahn into the city centre. Direct flights from the UK to Frankfurt take 1.5 hours.

      Must See
See Frankfurt on foot or take a tram to Römerberg and wander around the town square. The Museumsufer Festival, one of the most important and biggest cultural festivals in Europe, is held every year on the banks of the Main. Over 15 museums and galleries participate and are open late at night. Be sure to join in on the party atmosphere with concerts and fireworks; the celebrations continue into the early hours of the morning.
