Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

Hermann Park

If you want to feel like a local, visit the beautiful Hermann Park. The Hermann Park is also home to the Houston Zoo and has lakes, pavilions, picnic grounds, a golf course, pedal boats, railroad ride for kids, and much more.

Buffalo Bayou

The Buffalo Bayou is a gorgeous 52-mile waterway that goes from Katy, Texas to Houston’s River Oaks area. There is a 10-mile patch from the Shepherd Drive to the Port of Houston Turning Basin, which is great for outdoor recreation. Explore the natural landscapes, hiking and walking trails. Also visit the beautiful Buffalo Bayou Park and the restored Waterworks Building inside, built from a 4-acre abandoned city water system.

National Museum of Funeral History

The Museum of Funeral History reveals mysterious traditions such as the burial of a Pope to the recreation of Lincoln’s state funeral. This macabre museum might be unsettling for some people but is surely engaging for all who visit. Not to be missed is the 1916 graveyard bus, invented to “eliminate funeral processions”. This bus could carry a coffin, pallbearers and about twenty mourners. However, the idea failed when the bus carrying all this weight in the back tipped over a San Francisco hill sending bodies, both dead and alive, flinging all across the street.

How to Reach Houston?
