All children between the ages of 5-14 traveling alone must avail the airline’s Unaccompanied Minor Service. Children between the ages 5-7 are only allowed to travel alone on direct flights whereas children between the ages 8-14 can travel alone on both direct and connecting flights. For children between the ages 15-17, this service is optional. The minor will be charged an unaccompanied minor fee of $150 (plus tax) each way in addition to the adult fare. Two or more unaccompanied minors of the same family traveling together will only be charged $150 (plus tax) each way.
American Airlines allows pets to travel either as carry-on, checked in, or as cargo, depending on their size and breed. Only dogs and cats are allowed on board, and only to destinations with travel time not exceeding 11.5 hours. Fully trained service and emotional support animals are allowed to travel in the cabin free of cost.
American Airlines opens the online check-in facility 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure up to 45 minutes till domestic flight departure and 90 minutes till international flight departure.
