      Cheap Flights to Brisbane

Bored in Brisbane?  That would be impossible…

Brisbane is positively brimming with things to see and do. The enviable sunny climate along with the opportunity to get out of town and explore the wilderness or stunning Gold Coast, makes it an enticing destination. As well as being Queensland’s capital, Brisbane is Australia’s third largest city and third most-visited tourist destination after Sydney and Melbourne. It straddles the Brisbane River, which not only provides the city with a transport system, but also a venue for many of the metropolis’ favourite pastimes, such as cycling the 27km pathway that surrounds it. You can while away the hours on South Bank’s sandy beach, at grassy picnic spots, or in the array of shops and eateries. There are cinemas, live entertainment, free guided walks, and many festivals and firework displays throughout the year.

      Why Go?
Go to Brisbane for the great weather, relaxed atmosphere, endless attractions, lots of fresh air and a real taste of the outdoor life down under. Take a trip out of the city to the Gold Coast to sunbathe under azure skies.

      When to Go?
Brisbane has hot summers (May – September) and mild winters, ensuring that visitors arrive in the city all year round. Summer temperatures tend to be around 30°C, while the winter is mild and very pleasant with temperatures averaging 17°C. Busy, more expensive times for flights are December and January, when Aussie’s head back home to enjoy the Australian summer. Don’t forget your sunscreen.

      How to get there?
Brisbane Airport is 8 miles northeast of the city. Flights to Brisbane from the UK usually stopover in Asia and take around 24 hours. Despite Brisbane being a year-round destination, it is possible to find cheap flights in the busy months from November to February, especially if you travel midweek. Taxis from the airport to the city take about 15/20 minutes and the Airtrain takes 22 minutes.

      Must see
Head to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to cuddle a koala, feed a kangaroo, and learn about reptiles. Just as the locals do, jump on the cheap CityCat that glides up and down the Brisbane River, stopping along the way at places including South Bank. Take a relaxing dip into the old-fashioned Spring Hill Baths. Feast your eyes on Brisbane’s art by signing-up on one of the free volunteer-guided tours at the GoMA and QAG.
