      Cheap Flights to Moscow

Living the high life in Russia

Moscow has developed from an austere and censored society into a vibrant cosmopolitan city. Russia’s capital is home to the many of the world’s billionaires so champagne bars and outrageously expensive boutiques have appeared in the downtown area. And it’s not just the extraordinarily wealthy who enjoy Moscow’s affluence; all across the city former factories and warehouses are being turned into hip clubs and trendy art galleries. Sushi bars and coffee bars are lining the streets. You’re more likely to find queues for the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, than for bread. And behind all of this glitter the landmarks that immediately identify Russia’s capital stand as tall and proud as ever. Explore The Kremlin, St Basil’s Cathedral, Red Square and Gorky Park to learn about Moscow’s rich heritage.

      Why Go?
Go to Moscow for the energetic city life, and experience a place in the midst of a creative surge. Feast your eyes on the magnificent landmarks that make Moscow so striking. Discover stunning architecture and the awe inspiring proliferation of art in all its forms.

      When to Go?
Moscow has short, hot summers and long harsh winters. The city looks romantic in the winter with its covering of snow, but the days are short and the temperatures are below freezing.  April/May and September are nice times to visit the capital; the weather can be unpredictable but tends to be sunny and the city is quieter than in summer. June, July and August are the busiest times in Moscow with long warm days and occasional thunderstorms.

      How to get there?
Direct flights operate to Moscow from London Heathrow. Five airports serve the Russian capital. They are Sheremetyevo International Airport (MOW), Domodedovo International Airport, Bykovo Airport, Ostafievo International Airport and Vnukovo International Airport. Sheremetyevo International Airport is the main entry point for foreign passengers. Flights from London take up to 4 hours. There are plenty of airport taxis but always agree the fare beforehand. Buses and minivans are also available taking passengers to Moscow’s metro network.

      Must see
Take the Moscow metro - it is surely the world's most beautiful system and a work of Soviet art. Amongst other gems, there are bronzes at Ploshad Revolutsii and impressive propagandist mosaics at Komsomolskaya. March across Red Square to visit Lenin's tomb. Drink ice-cold vodka in one of the trendy bars around Novi Arbat. Allow plenty of time to get back to the airport in Europe's worst traffic. It’ll take you anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, and always negotiate your taxi fare before setting off.
