For holidays in Valencia, the summer months between June and August are the hottest times to visit. As temperatures soar, so too does the palpable excitement and buzz of the city, as locals and visitors alike enjoy outdoor festivals and soak up the sun on the magnificent beaches.

      Why Go?
Valencia holidays have it all; brilliant beaches, fascinating history, tantalising cuisine and superb nightlife. All too often over-shadowed by its northern neighbour Barcelona, Valencia is unquestionably one of Spain’s best tourist destinations for an all-round Spanish experience. With low-cost flights available, the question is why haven’t you been already?

      When to Go?
The Mediterranean climate of Valencia means that you can expect mild winters and hot summers. The summer months are the best time to go because the city is most alive with festivals and excitement. Sea temperatures between June and September are also warmer, so it is much more pleasant to spend time on the beach. The air temperature averages somewhere between 25 and 30 degrees throughout the summer.

      How to get there?
Flights to Valencia from the UK are mainly operated by low cost Irish airline Ryanair, who fly from Bournemouth, Bristol, East Midlands and Stansted. easyJet has Valencia flights from London Gatwick. If flying with low cost airlines doesn’t appeal or if none of those airports are suitable, then indirect flights to Valencia from airports such as Newcastle are available from flag carriers Air France, KLM and BA via Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport.

      Must see
One of the city’s best historical attractions is Valencia Cathedral, a fascinating blend of architectural styles dating back almost 800 years. It is also said to be the resting place of the Holy Grail. From the top of the cathedral’s octagonal mediaeval tower you can enjoy fantastic views of the city. Complementing the beautiful mediaeval buildings is the futuristic City of Arts and Science, with its planetarium, cinema and Europe's largest aquarium. Join in Bunol’s world famous annual tomato fiesta in August, where tens of thousands of Spaniards and tourists throw tomatoes at one another just for the fun of it!
