      Cheap Flights to Varna

      Bathe by the Black Sea

Bulgaria’s largest city and seaside resort, Varna is more than a beach destination. True, it offers a dramatic and beautiful bay with panoramic views out over the Black Sea, but travel to Varna and you will learn that there is so much more to experience. A former walled village, Varna now displays a cultural blend of architecture from pre-Ottoman to Neo-Classicism and Art Nouveau. Pick up fresh seafood and local produce from Kolkhozen Pazar, the city’s largest farmer’s market. Browse the stalls and boutiques of Prince Boris Boulevard; explore the nature reserve of Kamchiya and stroll through the idyllic Botanical Gardens at Balchik Royal Palace. Spend a tranquil afternoon at the hillside monastery of Aladzha or discover the oldest cultivated gold in the world exhibited at the Varna Archaeological Museum. Head to the waterfront promenade at night and enjoy the best clubs and pubs in the city.

      Why Go?
Varna, with its archaeological treasures, sweeping coastline, grand palaces and welcoming inhabitants, will surprise and inspire you. Tour the museums housing ancient relics, taste the local produce at the daily farmers’ markets and unwind on the beaches of this impressive city.

      When To Go?
Considered Bulgaria’s beach resort, Varna enjoys a sunny climate from May to September with temperatures averaging 28°C. October and December are known to be the wettest months and therefore the quietest. Winters in Varna are relatively cold with strong Baltic winds; although snowfall is rare many of the resorts shut down for the season. Travel to Varna in August for the brightest weather and liveliest atmosphere.

      How To Get There?
Varna Airport (VAR) located 8km (5 miles) west of the city centre is the only international airport to serve Varna. Indirect flights are available from the UK with direct flights scheduled on a seasonal basis. Bus services leave regularly from the airport terminal taking passengers to the city centre and train station. International trains from Czech Republic, Poland and Russia arrive into Varna Train Station daily.

      Must See
Seaside Park is one of Varna’s most popular tourist attractions and tops the list on a visit to the city. Enjoy a ballet performance in the open-air theatre; tour the Navy Museum charting the maritime history of the coastal city and marvel over the exhibits of the Museum of Natural History. Tropical, freshwater and Black Sea fish will enchant visitors to the park’s Aquarium. Climb to the top of the Astronomical Observatory for a fascinating display of the planets. Round off your day at the Seaside Baths and let the hot sulphuric minerals soothe you.
